The OECD has released today its report on "Generic Top Level Domain names: market development and allocation issues".
This paper first provides an overview of the structure of the market for domain name registration with a particular focus on gTLDs. The aim of this work is to provide a review of the reforms introduced by ICANN and their impact. The second focus of the paper is a discussion of the main procedures available to ICANN to allocate resources. The report suggests to auction the gTLDs.
