More than 100 million domain names, for the first time ever, according to Verisign's Domain Name Industry Brief - August 2006. The strong growth of the ccTLD is partly due to the .eu.
In the second quarter of 2006, the absolute number of new registrations was the second largest ever. There were 57.5 million .com and .net domain names at the end of this second quarter (renewal rate: 76%). No mention of the percentage of active domain names.

The report also underlines that 70% of Internet users do not speak English.
