Iraq would like to be present on the Internet, and seeks to manage the Top Level Domain .iq. The Iraqi chairman of the National Communications & Media Commission, Siyamend Othman, wrote in a letter to the I.C.A.N.N. that it would be "an important tangible (sic) and symbolic milestone for this nation, as well as the freedom and hopes of the Iraqi people".
If you check the WhoIs, it seems that a Texan firm currently owns the .iq TLD.
